Abeer Abdalla, a sophomore at Valencia
Community College East-Campus has been selected as a 2005 Guistwhite Scholar
from the state of Florida and will receive a $5,000 stipend from the Guistwhite

Abeer has not only set the bar for Valencia Community College, but has set the
bar throughout the Florida Region in both service and academics. Forty years
after first opening its doors to eager students, Valencia Community College
was honored to recognize Abeer Abdalla as the first recipient of such a prestigious
award.
In 2003, Abeer co-wrote Millennial Manifesto , a critically acclaimed book about youth activism, student service, and generational politics in America. Hans Reimer, the Washington Director of Rock the Vote stated, that “Millennial Manifesto is an outstanding tool for both students and young professionals who want to get involved and make a difference as well as for older people who want to understand this activist generation.”
Abeer is the Senator of Service for
the Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and is an active member in
Student Government Association and the Valencia Honor's Program. Abeer will
be attending the University of Central Florida in the fall pursuing a Major
